Building the 13 degree wall

January 31st, 2004
The hardest wall in a bouldering area is the moderate angled one. Big overhangs will have nice positive holds on them. Flat walls will have holds done to work your opposition technique- pulling against one and pushing another- while balancing on small holds with your feet. The 13-degree wall I'm building here has the small balancy holds of a flat wall, set at an overhanging angle that doesn't let you rest- it really works you out! The construction of this really required some interesting framing options. The width of this particular section is 4'- and it will give a good transition from the roof area on one side to the flat wall with arrette on the other. Posted by Picasa
